How Many Times (CD)
Esther Rose
Amoeba Review
New Orleans alt-country artist Esther Rose embraces folk pop for her new album, How Many Times. Plaintive fiddle accompanies her catchy acoustic guitar chords and fragile-sounding voice on the title track and "Keeps Me Running." "My Bad Mood" has the throwback country feel of a Patsy Cline number, while the bluesier "Coyote Creek" makes good use of both steel and surf guitar sounds. "Mountaintop" is a lovely toe-tapper with good energy and lyrical strings.
