I'll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute To The Velvet Underground & Nico (CD)

Amoeba Review
The 1967 debut The Velvet Underground & Nico has been reinterpreted by 11 artists on a new tribute album, I’ll Be Your Mirror. The range of artists demonstrates the Velvet Underground’s famously broad influence: younger artists like King Princess (with her updated take on “There She Goes Again”) or Sharon Van Etten & Angel Olsen (on the mesmerizing “Femme Fatale”), are properly balanced out by Iggy Pop (whose “European Son” with Matt Sweeney is appropriately wild) or Thurston Moore & Bobby Gillespie (on the crushing “Heroin”). With that kind of talented line-up, this one is a no-brainer for the countless fans of the classic Banana Album.
