Deep Sea Diver's third studio album, Impossible Weight, shows off Jessica Dobson's powerful songwriting as well as her distinctive guitar style. "Lights Out" has strains of Wolf Parade songs in its driving rhythm and strong dynamics. The title track is another well-structured number featuring a head-bopping chorus and guest vocal by Sharon Van Etten. "Eyes Are Red (Don’t Be Afraid)," about the difficulties women face everywhere, breaks into a shimmering instrumental and epic, emotional outro.
