Aaron Frazer of Durand Jones & The Indications steps out with his first solo album, recreating a vintage soul sound much like Leon Bridges but with his own high, soft voice. Produced by Dan Auerbach, the album expertly blends disco, soul, and doo-wop while the lyrics address both matters of the heart and social issues. The groovy arrangement of "Bad News" is undeniably catchy while still managing to sound classy and subtle. "Over You" is a clear highlight with its stirring northern soul energy and darker-tinged vocal. With strong songwriting and his flawless falsetto, Frazer seems to effortlessly deliver the goods on this debut.
