Isn't It Now? (LP)
Animal Collective
Amoeba Review
Animal Collective's Isn't It Now? has to be some of the best work in the band's history. The songs are hypnotic, psychedelic, and kaleidoscopic, whether the band is getting contemplative, funky, or just plain weird. On this album, it feels like Animal Collective is doing more than gleefully experimenting with sound, but also launching an exploration into the depths of the human psyche and the mysteries of life. If that sounds grandiose and a little too over-the-top, fear not. These tracks are avant-garde but grounded, finding transcendence and wonder through challenges and growth. A moving, magical listening experience.
