Journey To The Moon & Beyond (CD)
Mort Garson
Amoeba Review
From deep within the strange and enchanted era of time known as the late '60s and early '70s comes Mort Garson's Journey to the Moon and Beyond. Back in the spotlight after his Plantasia was reissued, composer and electronic pioneer Garson's work on Journey is at once whimsical and weird, fantastic and far out. The titular Journey to the Moon consists of Garson's soundtrack to the live CBS News broadcast of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. The and Beyond includes the main theme from 1974 Blaxploitation flick Black Eye and the soundtrack to the 1970 National Geographic special of the same name, "Zoos of the World." The whole collection is very cosmic, experimental, lounge-y, and atmospheric. Set the mood with this long-lost gem of an album.
