Something about Bonny Light Horseman's new album makes it feel like one of those beloved, classic '70s era country rock records. Keep Me On Your Mind/See You Free is filled with anthems for those who have loved and lost, tried their best and played their worst hands. "Old Dutch" is a true heartbreaker, the intertwining male and female vocals calling to mind the pathos and passion of Fleetwood Mac. "When I Was Younger" is about growing up and moving on, the regrets that bloom over what we've lost despite gaining maturity, experience, and reaching certain milestones. This is a hugely powerful album, one that encapsulates so much of the shadow and light of the human experience.
