Live At Bush Hall (LP)
Black Country, New Road
Amoeba Review
Black Country, New Road's Live at Bush Hall captures the magic of the live concert experience. Now that frontman Isaac Wood has departed the band, bassist Tyler Hyde, keyboardist May Kershaw, and saxophonist/flutist Lewis Evans share vocal duties. Each brings a distinctive quality to their turns behind the mic: from Kershaw's lilting, fairy-like vocals to Hyde's world-weary, sometimes-almost-cabaret-like style, to Evan's alternately ennui-stricken and plaintive delivery. The songs all feel like worlds unto themselves, stories snatched from forgotten movies or half-heard conversations. A rebirth for the band, Live at Bush Hall is one of the coolest and most intriguing live albums in a long time.
