Banoffee's debut album, Look at Us Now Dad, is a treat for fans of smart, unpredictable pop. The LA-via-Australia alt-pop chanteuse writes infectious left-of-center bangers steeped in progressive politics and an indie ethos. The songs are bouncy, catchy-as-hell, wickedly smart, and meant to be sung along with -- but there's also an enjoyable, underlying substance most radio-friendly hits miss out on. Earworms include early singles "Tennis Fan," featuring Empress Of, and "Ripe," featuring CupcakKe. Watch out for Banoffee because Look at Us Now Dad certainly promises big things.
