Love Is The King (CD)
Jeff Tweedy
Amoeba Review
Jeff Tweedy's fourth solo studio album, Love Is The King, is steadfastly hopeful and optimistic despite our turbulent times, which is perhaps a relief to his many fans. Performed with his sons Spencer and Sam Tweedy, this is a set that relies on the comfort of his familiar sound. "Guess Again" is mildly jangly indie rock with a wry tone while "Opaline" and "A Robin Or A Wren" are soft country ballads. The title track "Love Is The King" is a spare, intriguing number that builds up to a pleasantly discordant bridge and ends on a hushed note.
