On their self-titled debut album, L.A. indie pop group Mamalarky offers the standard hushed vocals and psych-influenced guitar, but one departure is that their songs are unusually catchy and well-structured, giving them broader appeal. "Schism Trek" and "Fury" are unabashedly bright and bouncy despite some guitar buzz and noise. Singer Livvy Bennet's voice turns hypnotically warm and interesting on the sleepier track, "You Make Me Smile."
