Michael Rault (LP)
Michael Rault
Amoeba Review
The new self-titled album from Montreal’s Michael Rault is a late night ‘70s radio fueled fever dream. Rault’s eclectic fusion of golden era jams pulls in influences from classic progressive pop, soft rock, psych, folk, and yes—of course—yacht rock. With plinking piano, swooning strings, and funked out beats, these tracks feel like perfect pop gems, recently unearthed from deep in the vaults yet blissfully cheese-free. The dream world Michael Rault waves over the course of these ten tracks is suave, silky smooth, and delightfully vibed out. Compelling, transportive, and just straight up fun.
