Midpoint (LP)
Tom Chaplin
Amoeba Review
Keane's Tom Chaplin returns with an intimate new solo album, Midpoint. Although Chaplin has said the songs are "sparse" compared to the usual Keane fare, there's a lot of emotional nuance to these lovely, emotionally vulnerable tracks that makes them feel like a rich, layered listening experience. Written after the band's tour was stalled thanks to the pandemic, the songs speak to the beauty and fragility of the human experience. There's something comforting about the sense of connection that emanates from Chaplin's songwriting; Midpoint is the type of album that feels like a companion through good times and bad.
