Mirror II (CD)
The Goon Sax
Amoeba Review
The Goon Sax’s Mirror II is a modern post-punk gem. The album is filled with grooved out basslines, cleverly heartbreaking lyrics, and lovely alternating male/female vocals courtesy of Riley Jones and Louis Forster (son of The Go-Betweens' Robert Forster). Produced by the legendary John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding), the album maintains an atmosphere of bittersweet enchantment throughout. Timeless yet urgent, fresh yet rooted in that exquisite art-rock tradition, Mirror II feels like a breakthrough from a band that seems on the edge of blowing up the underground.
