MOTOMAMI (CD) [Explicit]
Rosalía
Amoeba Review
Rosalia’s Motomami cements her reputation as one of the most exciting, innovative artists in contemporary pop music. The Spanish singer isn’t afraid to experiment and as a result, her albums always feel light years ahead of what every other artist is putting out there. This time around Rosalia gets ultra-personal, with lyrical themes of isolation and transformation, feminism and sexuality, loss and rejoicing. Musically, the album also draws on her personal life, with a combination of alternative reggaeton, flamenco, bachata, hip-hop, and indie genres inspired by the music she used to dance to with her cousins as a child and the artists who influenced her as a budding songwriter. Production duties are split between Pharrell Williams, Noah Goldstein, Michael Uzowuru, Dylan Wiggins and longtime collaborator El Guincho, with special appearances by The Weeknd and Tokischa.
