My Morning Jacket [Orange Crush w/ Lemon Splatter Vinyl] (LP)
My Morning Jacket
Amoeba Review
My Morning Jacket returns with their first new collection of songs in nearly six years. This self-titled album is an excellent addition to the band’s always-satisfying catalogue, merging their characteristic dusty roads Americana with the sun-soaked country rock synonymous with the early ‘70s. Recorded at the 64 Sound Studio in LA, My Morning Jacket was produced and engineered by frontman Jim James. The songwriting is as masterful as ever, the melodies evocative and emotional. James has said that he hopes the album brings listeners “a lot of joy and relief” after the last year—this life-affirming, golden-hued album certainly pulls off that sense of renewal and release with aplomb.
