Never Let Me Go, Placebo’s first studio album in almost a decade, was worth the wait. Recorded between 2019-2021, the album is anchored by several truly excellent singles that cover a lot of stylistic ground for the band, from the eerie, captivating “Surrounded by Spies” to the catchy-as-hell synth-powered “Beautiful James.” That’s just a sampling of what Never Let Me Go offers—It’s an excellent showcase of the band’s songwriting talent, with no filler tracks among the thirteen songs. Fans will find a lot to love here and Never Let Me Go seems likely to bring a whole slew of new devotees to Placebo’s oeuvre.
