New Fragility [Milky Clear Translucent Vinyl] (LP)
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Amoeba Review
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's New Fragility reflects on both political turmoil and the dissolution of a marriage, and those complicated emotions are audible in singer Alec Ounsworth's distinctive trebley/nasal voice. This is an impressive set of melodic and sometimes catchy tunes that are also often restrained and plaintive. "Thousand Oaks" is especially affecting with its powerful rhythm section, reminiscent of Bombay Bicycle Club. "Hesitating Nation" is another highlight, well-arranged, stirring and emotional.
