Olivia Jean, formerly of the all-girl goth garage band The Black Belles, returns with the riff-heavy, soul-ed out Night Owl. Her latest in a series of collaborations with Jack White’s Third Man Records is a stomper, with ‘80s sugar-sweet-punk vocals and guitar-driven melodies. Olivia Jean clearly loves the legendary garage rock, punk, and soul stylings of the past, yet her sound is distinctively her own. Rebellious, fresh, and filled with kick-ass tunes, Night Owl is one that definitely deserves a spin.
