Nymph [Blue Vinyl] (LP)
Shygirl
Amoeba Review
London artist Shygirl makes her debut with Nymph, a collection of eclectic R&B/electronica. Shygirl's vocals are hushed and nimble here, making a nuanced, melodic track like "Firefly" that much more interesting. It's a subtle dance number instead of an over-the-top banger. "Come For Me" mesmerizes with crunchy production by Arca, and "Woe" is off-kilter and ethereal. Elsewhere, "Shlut" and "Little Bit" aim for more typically slinky R&B, balancing the stylistic quirks with accessibility.
