Oceania (CD)
The Smashing Pumpkins

Amoeba Review
Billy Corgan returns to the sound of the early Smashing Pumpkins with Oceania. Opener “Quasar” has the same sort of stop-start riffage Corgan perfected with songs like “Geek USA,” while “Panopticon’s” harmonic playing is goosebump-inducing for guitar geeks. Meanwhile “Pinwheels” aims for the heartstrings with its plinking keyboards and classic harmonic riff, sort of like a mellower “Today.” The album is part of Billy Corgan’s ongoing Teargarden by Kaleidyscope project, a planned 44-song opus that includes Oceania as its album-within-an-album.
