Oceans Of Time (CD)
Gloria de Oliveira , Dean Hurley
Amoeba Review
German-Brazilian artist Gloria de Oliveira and David Lynch collaborator Dean Hurley team up for the otherworldly, enchanting Oceans of Time. Written across a literal ocean, the duo passed musical ideas back and forth until they had created this transportive collection of songs which label Sacred Bones describes as a mixture of the “dreampop of 4AD acts and early 90’s New Age pop.” (That’s pretty accurate, especially since Oliveira and Hurley also cover the Jeff Buckley and Elizabeth Fraser demo “All Flowers in Time Bend Toward the Sun.”) While all of the above are fellow travelers to be sure, Oceans of Time sounds like a fresh, new take on the genre. An absolutely dazzling dream of an album that’ll make listeners hungry for more from this talented duo.
