One Is One (CD)
Delta Spirit
Amoeba Review
San Diego’s Delta Spirit strive for a cinematic atmosphere in their Americana-flavored indie rock, helmed by Matthew Vasquez’s distinctive, wobbly vocals. On their new album, One Is One, electronics come into play as well, for example, in the moody, beat-driven title song and on the opener “Villains,” which steadily builds in atmosphere. “What’s Done is Done” is fast-paced and anthemic, while “Thoughts on Seneca” swings back to a lovely, folky sound with swells of cello and lush harmonies.
