Orca (LP)
Gus Dapperton
Amoeba Review
Gus Dapperton dives into deeper and darker emotional waters on his sophomore album, Orca, showcasing his vulnerability in powerful lyrics and personal stories. Turning the personal into the universal is an alchemy Dapperton is well-versed in. Events from his childhood become something bigger than a memory; they become something every listener can share in and feel. The instrumentation is also more personal than on his debut. He’s replaced cold synths with warm piano and intense guitar riffs on indie-influences ballads and upbeat rockers.
