Palo Alto (CD)
Thelonious Monk
Amoeba Review
After the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968, racial tensions across the country rose. Palo Alto, California wasn't immune. Danny Scher, a junior at Palo Alto High School, had a dream to have Thelonious Monk perform and help bring about racial unity in the community while raising funds for his school’s International Committee. After many twists and turns, the concert was a success and a musical triumph. This historic concert is now available for the first time on vinyl and CD, fittingly called Palo Alto.
