Slothrust deliver another win on the excellent Parallel Timeline. The band’s indie pop sensibilities are stronger than ever as they swerve into experimental territory, the infectious melodies getting weirder and bolder in all the right ways. Much of that underlying edge apparently comes from the band’s focus on improvisation during the recording sessions; there’s a sense that the musical current could flow in any uncharted direction even as the master tunesmiths stand firmly behind the wheel. This delightful, unpredictable collection of songs is Slothrust at their best.
