PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE - Highlights [180 Gram Vinyl] (LP)
Christine & The Queens
Amoeba Review
Christine and the Queens’s latest, PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE, draws inspiration from the devastating, transcendent Tony Kushner work, Angels in America. The album itself is pretty transcendent: finding hope amidst grief, finding wonder and respite through beautiful, hypnotic melodies. This is the type of album you want to immerse yourself in, with narration by none other than Madonna, portraying a character called Big Eye. “Tears can be so soft” has the vibe of a sultry ‘90s R&B track with lush orchestral flourishes…although the seduction here is in giving into your emotions and letting them flow. “True Love” is a cosmic love song, heavenly and glorious. “To be honest” is more downtempo, like a wanderer in a labyrinth singing to themself for company and comfort. A gorgeous, thrilling album.
