PEACEMEAL [Neon Green Vinyl] (LP)
Ron Gallo
Amoeba Review
Ron Gallo steps out from his energetic garage-rock sound for his new album, PEACEMEAL, incorporating woozy elements of '90s R&B and jazz into indie lo-fi pop. A good example of this is "CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS?" with its noodling R&B bass in the verses contrasted with a swirling psych-pop chorus. The first single "YOU ARE ENOUGH" is a swooning, groovy ode to self-affirmation. "WUNDAY (CRAZY AFTER DARK)" has a lazy-party vibe and "HIDE (MYSELF BEHIND YOU)" shares that sunny, upbeat feeling with a psychedelic exuberance.
