Petrichor (CD)
Heather Trost
Amoeba Review
A Hawk and a Hacksaw's multi-instrumentalist Heather Trost has released a new solo album of experimental indie pop with soft vocals. A little bit psychedelic, a little bit folky, Petrichor references classic indie rock and its love affair with the '60s, but with the songwriter's own unique stamp. "Love It Grows" is a lovely mesh of crooning Yé-yé style vocals and rapid drums while "Jump Into the Fire" offers an intriguingly distorted, buzzing background under chanting vocals.
