Preacher's Daughter [Indie Exclusive] (LP)
Ethel Cain
Amoeba Review
Ethel Cain's 2022 debut studio album, Preacher's Daughter, is getting a vinyl reissue. The album is atmospheric and riveting, a feast for the senses as well as for the intellect. Cain easily moves between moody slowcore to transcendent Lana-esque alt-pop to Southern Gothic torch songs as she weaves these tales of a teenage girl, the titular Preacher's Daughter, on the run from her family, past, and intergenerational trauma. Cain builds compelling, cinematic worlds through these deeply felt, desperate songs. A breathtakingly beautiful, heartbreaking album.
