Reason To Live (CD)
Lou Barlow
Amoeba Review
Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh) has released a new solo album of gentle indie rock with strong melodies and shuffling acoustic guitar. Barlow's slightly husky voice suits these heartfelt songs that address personal issues like family life vs. musician life. The single “Over You” is a sweeping nostalgic tune with subtly echoing guitar at the end that creates an appropriately lingering sensation. “Love Intervene” has a chugging rhythm and a sprightly vocal melody, while “In My Arms” is a bit more soulful and jangly – like something from The Shins' early work.
