Relentless (CD)
The Pretenders
Amoeba Review
The Pretenders return with the lively new album, Relentless, named for their continued musical drive. Chrissie Hynde’s distinctive vocals continue to be the main draw, bringing a singer/songwriter intimacy to their bluesy rock n’ roll numbers such as “Let The Sun Come in.” Elements of New Wave are still present in the quick changes and propulsive bass line of album highlight “A Love.” Jonny Greenwood makes an appearance on the closing ballad “I Think About You Daily,” which is made more sweeping and sorrowful by his orchestrated strings.
