Volbeat's new album, Rewind, Replay, Rebound ramps up their melodic, anthem rock with blasts of '70s radio-friendly sounds and classic '80s metal guitar riffs. The band smashes genres together in an entertaining way, keeping things interesting: The 39-second-long “Parasite” leans toward pop-punk while the cheekily named “Pelvis On Fire” sounds a bit like Danzig with a rockabilly swing. “Die to Live” is another highlight, a catchy headbanger featuring Clutch's Neil Fallon. “Last Day Under The Sun,” perhaps the best representative of the group's overall sound, is irresistably dramatic and uplifting, despite what that title might suggest.
