Rock Machine (CD)
La Femme
Amoeba Review
If you're not already a fan of La Femme, prepare to be hooked. After fourteen years together as a band, Rock Machine is the French group's first English language release. The language switch hasn't tempered the band's je ne sais quoi whatsoever, as La Femme ably blends the electronic, rock, post-punk, motorik, and dream pop into kaleidoscopic, propulsive tracks. Sometimes the band gets dreamy, sometimes they get goofy, but whatever they're doing, they create killer rhythms and swirling melodies. Rock Machine sounds like an album made by superstars and hopefully that's exactly how they'll be considered here in the US soon, too.
