Seed Cake On Leap Year (CD)
Cass McCombs
Amoeba Review
Seed Cake On Leap Year is a compelling, intense collection from Cass McCombs' early years as an artist. Recorded between 1999-2000 in San Francisco, these previously unreleased tracks are filled with raw power and keening emotion. There are seemingly easygoing, woozy love songs ("Baby"), piercing slow burn ballads of desperation ("Wasted Again"), and hazy, beseeching odes ("If I Was a Stranger"). These early tracks are punk rock at heart, melancholic in mode, and utterly outstanding.
