Seven Psalms (10")
Nick Cave
Amoeba Review
On Seven Psalms, Nick Cave teams up with Warren Ellis for another intelligent and insightful exploration of some of his favorite topics: mercy, faith, love, rage, sex, grief, and praise. Written one a day during lockdown, Cave channeled the uncertainty of the times into these contemplative, exploratory spoken-word pieces. Each “psalm” is brief yet haunting, backed with instrumentations by Ellis. The solemnity of the proceedings is counterbalanced by a nearly twelve-minute-long instrumental track; its power grows as the track progresses, becoming a source of catharsis, release, and transcendence. Unforgettable and intriguing.
