Shine [Baby Blue Vinyl] (LP)
Sean Nicholas Savage
Amoeba Review
Sean Nicholas Savage’s latest is the type of thoughtful, life-affirming, been-through-hell-and-back LP so many of us need right now. After a period of personal and creative immobilization brought on by the turmoil of the last few years, Savage slowly rediscovered a glimmer of inspiration that he nurtured into the lovely, healing Shine. Inspired by the work of Tatsuro Yamashita and Elliott Smith, the record has the warm feeling of modern folk music combined with Savage’s avant- and sophisti-pop sensibilities. Longtime pal Mac DeMarco produced the LP. Shine feels like an old friend—cozy and comforting, it’s an ode to living a full-hearted, reignited life.
