Silver Tongue (LP)
Torres
Amoeba Review

The music industry is littered with tales of artists not given the option to freely create their art; commerce takes control and stifles the artist into submission. Thankfully, on her fourth album Silver Tongue, Torres not only survives a change in record labels (this is her first for indie Merge) but is also given the chance to self-produce the album herself...an act that was necessary for the work contained within to truly bloom. No longer hiding behind character personas in her songs, Silver Tongue finds Torres chronicling her current relationship in first person fashion, a style that not only suits the artist but allows her to truly shine. This facade-dropping honesty makes for a wonderful next stage of Torres's musical output; let's hope this is only the beginning.
