Darkside’s Spiral sounds vital, futuristic and funky. The “jam” project of multi-instrumentalist Dave Harrington and electronica artist Nicolas Jaar, Darkside sees the two friends moving in different sonic directions. The songwriting is surprising and innovative, built on pop structures that purposefully shift shape and dissolve as the bandmates give in to their more experimental tendencies. Fans of out-there electronica and thoughtful indie will find much to dig here.
