Spirituals was Santigold’s creative escape during the 2020 shutdown, and that tension is present in the booming “Ain’t Ready,” a battle cry to get back up and keep moving. “High Priestess” is another high-energy track that mixes rapped verses with an uplifting electro-pop chorus. Elsewhere, “Shake” is sparse and funky, and “Nothing” is atmospheric and a little ominous. The latter’s hypnotic pulse lingers satisfyingly in your head. These are well-produced, absorbing songs that capture Santigold’s expert swirling of genres.
