Stampede [Bone Color Vinyl] (LP)
Orville Peck
Amoeba Review
Stampede is the Orville Peck duets album of your dreams. There are the joint efforts that feel like they were heaven sent from the country gods above: Peck and Willie Nelson's version of "Cowboys Are Frequently, Secretly Fond of Each Other," Peck and Noah Cyrus' "How Far Will We Take It?," and Peck and Allison Russell's "Chemical Sunset" all feel like they could've been selected by a lonesome drifter on the dusty jukebox of some wild west town. Peck's outing with Kylie Minogue and Diplo ("Midnight Ride") may seem surprising at first but just makes so much cinematic sense with those house-adjacent beats and spaghetti western motifs. With superstars, moody dance numbers, and lovelorn twang, Stampede manages to balance deep emotions with pure fun.
