still slipping vol. 1 (CD) [Explicit]
Joy Orbison
Amoeba Review
At long last, Joy Orbison releases a debut full-length in the form of still slipping vol 1. The album sounds like the future, flitting between genres, and featuring a talented cast of mostly UK-based collaborators, including Herron, James Massiah, Bathe, Léa Sen, Goya Gumbani and TYSON. There’s also the poignant use of voice recordings from Orbison’s family, gleaned from the voice notes sent to him when they were kept apart by the pandemic for much of last year. A must-hear for fans of forward-thinking electronic music.
