Ted K [Score] (CD)
Blanck Mass
Amoeba Review
Blanck Mass brings the necessary intensity and complexity to his score for Tony Stone’s Ted K, the story of Unabomber Ted Kaczynski. Working through lockdown, often at odd hours of the night to align with the director’s time zone, it’s probably no surprise that the album balances desperation and despair with moments of beauty and transcendence. Ben Powers of Blanck Mass has stated that he was inspired by the work of Segio Leone and Ennio Morricone in creating this breathtakingly epic score—it’s interesting to trace those influences through the sometimes punishing sometimes contemplative electronic soundscapes. A sensitive sound portrait of a controversial topic, the Ted K score is layered, entrancing, and stunning.
