Teenage Dreams (LP)
Native Soul
Amoeba Review
Native Soul’s Teenage Dreams is hands down one of the coolest albums of the year. With a musical sensibility steeped in the electronic music scenes from the ‘80s on, it seems impossible that this talented South African duo are actually teens themselves. Yet they are, and it’s to the benefit of dance music fans that Awesome Tapes from Africa is bringing their unique brand of dark, thudding Amapiano to a new audience. These tracks are tightly-wound, propulsive dance floor fillers that should please fans of brooding, icy techno and leftfield global sounds. Do not sleep on this release!!
