Tejas (CD)
ZZ Top
Amoeba Review
Jeff Hunt 05/28/2010
ZZ Top’s previous two albums consolidated their status as bona fide rock stars; their fourth LP, 1975’s Fandango!, made them FM radio fixtures with the raunchy classic, “Tush.” The group toured for the next year, then recorded a fifth LP. Tejas was originally released on February 9, 1977 by the London Records label, and it climbed into the Top 20 on the US album charts; “Arrested for Driving While Blind” is the superior track. The band – Billy Gibbons on guitar and lead vocals; Dusty Hill on bass and vocals; and Frank Beard on drums – would fade to hiatus as the 1970s advanced.
