The Best of Faces: Good Boys...When They're Asleep... (CD)
Faces
Amoeba Review

Good Boys... When They're Asleep is a 1999 compilation CD by the Faces; the original tracks were recorded between 1970 and 1974, and are some of the most irreverently crucial moments in rock. At their best, the Faces were swaggering titans, and it wasn’t just vocalist Rod Stewart. Bassist and vocalist Ronnie Lane and guitarist Ron Wood made significant contributions, which this collection recognizes with an enlightened selection of tracks that sees the big picture without diminishing Stewart’s unique and obvious skills. Lane is represented as a vocalist, as is Wood on the endearing classic “Ooh La La.” Still, Stewart was at his peak during these years, and his efforts still resonate, as does his remarkable ability to empathize with a working-class sense of melancholic bliss.
