The Crux (LP)
Djo
Amoeba Review
Djo's The Crux is a wildly entertaining, truly excellent indie pop record. If you're not familiar already, you might be surprised to learn that Djo is the moniker of actor/musician Joe Keery (Stranger Things, Fargo); long before he entered the moody, dark television world of the hit Netflix series, Keery cut his teeth in garage and psych rock bands. The Crux has that same DIY spirit, with the songs calling to mind the frenetic intensity of Talking Heads, the swirling indie rock experimentalism of Tame Impala, and the dance floor-ready grooves of MGMT. An impressive, irresistible listen guaranteed to bring the good times.
