The Fooler (CD)
Nick Waterhouse
Amoeba Review
Nick Waterhouse’s The Fooler takes the California retro stylist into new territory while maintaining the gorgeous nostalgia he built his name on. “(No) Commitment” features an infectious chorus with a rollicking ‘60s rock ’n’ roll melody. “Play to Win” is a swooning, romantic ballad that sounds like a jukebox favorite from an all-night roadside diner in the ‘70s. All the songs are standouts yet they work seamlessly together to create an immersive, beautifully evocative listening experience. Another exceptional album from Waterhouse, The Fooler has to be one of the coolest and most heartfelt albums of the season.
