The Greater Wings (CD)
Julie Byrne
Amoeba Review
Julie Byrne is a once-in-a-lifetime artist, and her new album, The Greater Wings, is some of her best work. The album feels imbued with both the heartbreak and the preciousness of temporality: The lyrics hint at desolation and renewal, yearning and desire. The shimmering "Summer Glass" will make you pause in your tracks, while "Moonless" aches with the fragility of loss. It's not often that an album changes your life. These lush, folk-tinged ballads just might.
