The King (LP)
Anjimile
Amoeba Review
Featuring a newly lowered vocal range, Anjimile Chithambo's The King serves as a kind of experimental work for this unique and multitalented artist. The intense title track opens the album with a backing choir that shifts from angelic to dark and foreboding, giving us a clue to the album's themes of grief and anger at life as a black trans person in the U.S. "Father" is a gently melancholy ballad while "Black Hole" is an intriguing track with industrial elements churning under the rich vocal melody.
